Bonjour Cedric,

If the sandstone is acidic, it could have contributed to leaching of minerals from the tooth; the relatively less well-mineralized enamel and dentine will have been more heavily affecting, leaving a shell of enamel.
There should be more info on differential preservation and matrix composition here:

Subject: [ZOOARCH] Tooth in sandstone

Dear ZOOARCHers

This tooth (http://zooarchaeology.ning.com/forum/topics/tooth-preservation-in-sandstone) was found in a sandstone Paleolithic level at Brive (France). It is a print of an upper molar from a bovid. The tooth is almost completely destroyed, but you can see some fragment of enamel. There is no faunal remain in this layer but few small burnt bones. Does anyone have seen such a tooth preservation ? What kind of taphonomic process may be involved ? Do you have some references ?

Thank you very much
