The Scientific Computing Department at the Science and Technology Facilities Council are looking to recruit a Senior Research Software Developer to work on EU funded projects focused on Digital Preservation, closing date 27 February 2013.  Salary range is £33780 - £37534.

 

The roles will lead specific parts of the technical development contributing to success of the wider projects.  There is the requirement for travel, both within the UK and abroad.  Duties will include:

• Development of scientific data management infrastructure, including data and metadata capture, storage, movement, search and access via web-sites and/or application programming interfaces
• Analysis of preservation scenarios, developing preservation workflows, design and development of software tool support for data preservation
• Analysis of metadata models for scientific data management and preservation, distribution and linking, and design and deployment of software services to support their use
• Design and development of tools, services and infrastructure to support long-term preservation of scientific data
