Hi all (with the usual apologies for cross-posting)

As some of you know, Science Oxford Live will be closing its doors for the last time in July, after almost 8 years bringing science to the people of the city. There is an official press release here http://www.scienceoxford.com/live/visit-us/the-future-of-science-oxford

We are obviously sad about this, but are we downhearted? No!*

Do we think we've done a rip-snorting job over the years? Yes!**

Would we like you to come and celebrate with us. Yes!***

So we wondered, how could we go out with a bang? And we came up with this:

Science Oxford versus The Rest of the World!

What we have in mind is a sort of Science Showoff-cum-BIG Event Best Demo type event. We'll put together a crack team of Science Oxford people, who'll take on a team representing everyone else. Each team member will do a short set, and the audience will vote on which team is the best. If they vote for SO, they get more free wine. If they don't, we throw them out with a flea in their ear.

It'll be on 27 June, kicking off around 7.30pm. We want it to be a celebration, not a wake, and we'd love to see as many of our friends there as we can fit in the building. In particular, if you want to represent The Rest of the World, then let me know asap. And if you would like to be part of the audience, then bookings will open in early April.

I look forward to working with you all in the future

Dom

ps Feel free to forward this to anyone who you think might be interested.

NOTES
*Maybe a little bit.

**Well, we would say that, wouldn't we?

***Is there no-one else available? Oh, alright then.
