Great news for sure - and reason to celebrate … but this directive does not diminish the need for the US FASTR bill.  

• FASTR has a 6 month embargo instead of 12 in the directive.
• FASTR will codify public access into law making it much more difficult to reverse than the directive.
• FASTR is more explicit about reuse rights.
