Distributed National Collection

A Museums Strategy for Wales identifies the following:

A Collection for the Nation

4.1.1 Collections are the reason museums exist and are what make them unique. They are brought together by the community for the community and are integral to the collective memory of our nation. While each individual organisation holds a part of the story of Wales, the sum of the parts delivers a comprehensive, if not complete, distributed national collection that paints the past and provides insights into the way our nation has developed over time.

CyMAL would be grateful if you could spare a couple of minutes to respond to a short questionnaire, which should take you no more than 5-10 minutes.

This will help take forward our thinking on the concept of the distributed national collection.

The survey can be completed at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9CKXTNT and responses should be submitted by Friday 15th February.

4.1.1 Casgliadau yw’r rheswm pam y mae amgueddfeydd yn bodoli, a’r hyn sy’n eu gwneud yn unigryw. Caiff casgliadau eu llunio gan y gymuned ar gyfer y gymuned, ac maent yn rhan annatod o gof ein cenedl. Er bod pob sefydliad unigol yn dal rhan o hanes Cymru, mae’r holl rannau hynny yn gasgliad cenedlaethol gwasgaredig cynhwysfawr, os nad cyflawn, sy’n rhoi braslun o’r gorffennol ac yn rhoi dealltwriaeth o’r ffordd y mae ein cenedl wedi datblygu dros amser.

Byddwn yn ddiolchgar pe byddwch yn gallu ymateb i’r arolwg byr yma. Ni ddylai gymryd mwy na 10 munud i’w gwblhau.

Bydd yn help i ni ddatblygu’r cysyniad o’r casgliad cenedlaethol sydd ar wasgar (distributed national collection).
