Ruhr-Universität Bochum

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities. The University draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering disciplines on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting enables students and researchers to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties.

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum – Fakultät für Chemie und Biochemie invites applications for the faculty positions in the research field of the Cluster of Excellence “Ruhr Explores Solvation” (RESOLV).((http://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/solvation/Resolv.html)

RESOLV is funded within the German Excellence Initiative, and aims at establishing “Solvation Science” as an overarching topic at RUB. The mission of RESOLV is to launch Solvation Science as a new interdisciplinary field to understand the influence of solvation on reactions, the function of biomolecules, and processes at liquid-solid interfaces. RESOLV aims to create a multi-disciplinary framework for understanding solvent processes that is universal and adds a predictive capability. To achieve the goals of RESOLV, the existing faculty will be strengthened by establishing professorships in the following research areas:

W3-Professor (M/F) in NMR Spectroscopy

W2-Professor (M/F) in Molecular Simulation

W2-Professor (M/F) of Organic Chemistry with a focus on Solvent-Driven Reactions

W2-Professor (M/F) of physical chemistry for Time-Resolved Spectroscopy

More details for all positions can be found at http://stellen.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/profs/prof00180.html.de

All professors will be appointed to tenured positions, supported by both scientific and technical staff associated with the professorship, provided with funding for dedicated instrumentation, and will strongly benefit from state-of-the-art equipment to be provided within the Research Building ZEMOS (www.rub.de/zemos), Research Department “Interfacial Systems Chemistry” (www.rd.rub.de/ifsc), and the shared facilities of IFSC and RESOLV (www.rub.de/solvation).
The applicants are expected to have outstanding records of publication and internationally visible academic standing. An important aspect is the ability and the willingness of the candidate to collaborate with existing groups in the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV.

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is an equal opportunity employer. Ruhr-Universität Bochum seeks to foster the careers of women and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. Disabled persons with equivalent qualification will be especially considered.
Applications should include a detailed curriculum vitae (with information on honors and awards, invited lectures, grants received, teaching and supervision, academic and professional service etc.), a list of all publications, a list and the PDFs of the five most important publications, a two-page outline of the general research interests, and a two-page research plan for five years in Solvation [log in to unmask] These documents should be sent electronically not later than 28.02.2013 to the Dean of the Fakultät für Chemie und Biochemie ([log in to unmask]), Ruhr-Universität Bochum, 44780 Bochum, Germany.
