I'm still no closer to my reference works so am very grateful to Gordon for checking and relaying the Irene Churchill references to the bishop of London as dean of the province.

Re Archbishop Scrope and excommunication: Innocent VII excommunicated all those involved in Scrope's execution but Archbishop Arundel failed to publish the decree of excommunication - clearly not wishing to offend the king.
