Dear Colleagues,

*Apologies for cross posting*

The Centre for the Interdisciplinary Study of Film and The Moving Image warmly invites you to its forthcoming research seminar.

We open our Spring programme with "Decades Never Start on Time: Richard Roud's Journey through Film Culture". Michael Temple, Reader in Film and Media at Birbeck, University of London,
will be discussing this eminent critic's contribution to the study and appreciation of film.
This seminar is scheduled for Wednesday 13th February, 5pm in MLT2, Marlowe Building, The University of Kent.

Roud was the director of the London and New York Film Festivals, chief film critic for the Guardian, and the author of several important books such as his monograph on Jean-Luc Godard and his biography of Henri Langlois, A Passion for Film. The anthology includes significant amounts of previously unpublished material as well as selections from Roud's published writings in various newspapers, magazines and books. The story of Roud's multifaceted career and personal journey through the film culture of the 1960s and 1970s can be seen as a contribution to the history of film criticism and the history of film festivals.

There is no requirement to register for this seminar. But if you would like directions, please follow the link provided and do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information.
