Hey all

We just went soft (very soft) live with http://americanmuseum.org - and I thought you might be interested…

Main things you might like or find interesting from a techy / museumy perspective:

- It's Wordpress (yay), and quite a big implementation which includes lots and lots stuff to make editing and re-surfacing content easier, for instance modular content (so you can feature stuff from anywhere on the site anywhere else on the site..) - fairly standard "write once, surface lots" approaches - but not that often done with Wordpress..
- A "collection" and an "events" custom post type, and some…interesting stuff.. with calendaring..
- It's responsive, which is a good thing as as of right now (only 4 days in, granted), we're seeing about 30% of all traffic is mobile..
- We're using http://trello.com extensively to gather and sort feedback about the site - we already use this for all our project management, and it works brilliantly for a simple bug-catching / task allocation tool

The site is very much a work in progress - we've got lots of optimisation to do - but the museum gets very much busier when they re-open in March so that'll be our "hard" launch.

All comments welcome, on or off-list. I'll shortly be putting some stuff online about how we're working with Wordpress and why we think it has matured to be a very serious contender in the museum website space.

cheers!

Mike
