Dear Colleagues,
We are award of difficulties in providing training for new CILIP mentors, and refresher training for existing mentors, for colleagues in Wales. CILIP Cymru Wales are working with PTEG to provide a full day mentor training course in Flint on Wednesday 29th May 2013. I hope to advertise this event more formally shortly, and to start to take bookings. This is a full day event for new mentors. Existing mentors are invited to attend in the afternoon to update their knowledge on mentoring within the CILIP Qualifications context. Applications for financial support to the Kathleen Cooks Fund will be considered from CILIP members in Wales to enable attendance at this session.
Regrettably, I have not been able to arrange CILIP approved mentor training in South Wales during 2013, but I hope that some colleagues will be able to travel to Flint for their training. An alternative may be to attend the forthcoming PTEG Mentor Training event in Portsmouth on 19th March 2013. Again, financial support will be available from the Kathleen Cooks Fund for CILIP Members in Wales who are able to attend. Thanks to the generosity of Kathleen Cook, a former librarian in Llandudno, funding is available to support CILIP groups, members and library authorities in Wales to enhance professional knowledge, support collection development or undertake service improvement.
