Seems to me that the best thing to do is buy more of his books for the library, not fewer. Maybe open the Terry Deary Library?

(In all seriousness, bit worried about how many people have jumped on the "ban his books from libraries" bandwagon...we do have professional values to uphold...)

But that would drive kids (or parents) into buying his books - and that after all (as he announced on Look North) is what he cares about, income from book sales not loans.

With friends like this... Perhaps libraries should all stop buying Terry Dreary's books. It is true that the patttern of children's reading has changed but he should come down to North Kensington Library if he thinks libraries are no longer relevant for children. From 3.30 weekdays we are packed with children who come in with a whole variety of needs and many of them are from economically deprived backgrounds, do not have access to technology at home or have personal gadgets (smart phones, iPods etc) but they do read his books!
