ALISS  Visit to Institute of Education archives and open access


16th April  April 2-4pm

 

ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information professionals in the Social Sciences). http://www.alissnet.org.uk  are pleased to announce an opportunity to visit the Institute of Education Library. http://www.ioe.ac.uk/services/417.html The visit will focus on two aspects: the special collections/archives and DERA (Digital Education Resource Archive)

 

The Institute of Education holds collections of archive materials ranging in date from 1797 to the present day.  This covers all levels of education from pre-school and school through to further, higher, teacher and adult education. DERA http://dera.ioe.ac.uk/information.html  is a free digital archive of all documents published electronically by government and related bodies in the area of education. 

Visitors will get to meet staff involved in the work and here about its launch and maintenance.

 

The visit will last approximately  2 hours  . It will include talks about the special both services an opportunity to look behind the scenes and ask staff questions

 

 

There is no charge for ALISS Members.
