ESRC White Rose Network Funded PhD Studentships
Research Network:
Reshaping Multiculturalism through Cultural Practices
Applications
are invited for three fully funded doctoral studentships, within an ESRC-funded
research network involving Sheffield, Leeds and York Universities (which
comprise the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre). The network, entitled Reshaping Multiculturalism through
Cultural Practices, will investigate the ways in which multiculturalism
– as a set of ideas and ideals, practices and policies – is being reshaped by
those who are most affected by it: cultural minorities. The projects will
investigate cultural practices through which ethnic, linguistic and religious minority
groups are working through problems and challenges associated with
multiculturalism. The projects are defined openly at this stage, to allow
students the opportunity to shape their own projects, while working within a
coherent network with shared interests and a collective focus on
multiculturalism.
Each of
the three studentships will be based at one of the three universities within
this network but will actively engage with the other universities within
this Doctoral Training Centre network, which includes Sheffield, Leeds and York
Universities.
