Zircon: a key mineral for dating and
tracking geological processes
The University of Pavia (Italy) will host the international school “Zircon:
a key mineral for dating and tracking geological processes”. The school will be
held in Pavia, from 8 to 13 September, 2013.
The school will explore the new frontiers of zircon geochronology, petrology and thermochronology. Case studies on the usefulness of zircon studies in tracking magmatic, sedimentary and metamorphic processes will be presented.
Lecturers
are: F. Corfu (University of Oslo, Norway), M. Horstwood (British
Geological Survey, UK), J. Kosler (University of Bergen, Norway), M. Malusà
(Università Milano Bicocca, Italy), J-L. Paquette (CNRS & Université B. Pascal,
France), D. Rubatto (ANU, Australia), F.-Y. Wu (Chinese Academy of Science,
China), M. Zattin (University of Padova, Italy) and others.
The school will end with a one-day excursion (led by S. Sinigoi, Università
di Trieste, Italy) to the Sesia magmatic system (Ivrea-Verbano Zone, southern
Alps).
The school is free and principally devoted to PhD students, post-docs and
young researchers. For more information and registration (deadline May 15), go
