Associate professor in metamorphic petrology/structural geology


The Department of Geoscience invites applications for a position in metamorphic petrology/structural geology at the associate professor level. We seek an innovative and visionary geoscientist who integrates metamorphic petrology, structural geology and geochronology to understand how continental lithosphere and orogenic systems operate over time.  We are looking for applicants that utilize both field- and laboratory-based approaches, and complement existing expertise in magmatic petrology and geochemistry, fluids and ore petrology, and computational geoscience.

This new hire is part of strategic planning for the Department of Geoscience within the Faculty of Science and Technology focused on five thematic areas; Deep Earth Processes, Earth Surface Processes, Past Climate and Ocean Systems, Hydrogeological Systems, and Computational Earth Science.  Existing experimental, computational, analytical (EMPA, XRF, XRD), and new ICP mass spectrometry/clean laboratory facilities funded by the Danish National Research Foundation will be available to support the appointee’s research program.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous research program involving graduate and undergraduate students, attract extramural funding from national and/or international sources and expand the national and international research profile of the department.  The appointee will teach courses at the BSc, MSc and PhD levels in his/her field of expertise and related subjects..

The Faculty of Science refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
