I'm no scientist so would welcome either confirmation or correction. Reading Helm's new book he says "methane is a potent greenhouse gas - about four times more so than CO2" (page 37). IPCC AR4 Chapter 2 gives the 20 year and 100 year GWP figures as 72 and 25with authors now using updated figures from Shindell, (Improved Attribution of Climate Forcing to Emission, 30th October 2009 vol 326, Science Magazine), of 105 and 33. Am I misunderstanding something very simple and very basic? Thanks Geoff
