Hi, I also refer to Yale's page on primary sources in guidance for History undergraduate students on Glasgow's virtual learning environment. The discussion of different information sources is helpful in highlighting the differences and similarities between them. For briefer definitions of primary and secondary sources, I opted for the Society of American Archivists glossary: http://www2.archivists.org/glossary/terms/s/secondary-source http://www2.archivists.org/glossary/terms/p/primary-source These don't touch on the use of secondary sources as primary sources though! With so many digitised collections being made available, there is a need for guidance to help students (and other researchers) evaluate the sources they are finding. This is particularly important where databases are providing access to both primary and secondary sources (thinking of Jstor). Jane - your guidance looks good to me.
