Thanks for all replies to date in such a short time. Further replies still most welcome. Apologies for this 'block' acknowledgement.

We are sending a further invitation through the Scheme to ensure that our regular EQA contacts are invited.

Remember, if you want to join the genSAG as a 'generalist' your Lab must be a Participant in the UK NEQAS for General Chemistry.

Thanks again for all the kind offers of support.

Finlay

Subject: Would you like to join the UK NEQAS General Chemistry Specialist Advisory Group?

Please pass this on to anyone in your Lab who may be interested. Thanks, Finlay

Dear Mailbase User

Participants will be aware that there are UK NEQAS Special Advisory Groups [SAG] that deal with the 'Science' of what we do, while an overarching Chemistry Steering Committee deals with the 'Politics' and Chemistry-wide issues.

The Thyroid and Steroid Schemes are covered by the Immunoassay and Endocrinology SAG but the vast majority of what we do in Birmingham is covered by our General Chemistry SAG [genSAG]. The number of Schemes that we offer continues to grow and we want to make sure that we have input from both specialists and generalists alike to keep the Schemes pertinent and vibrant. We would like to have a geographical mix of Advisors and, if possible, we we also like to have users from all the major diagnostic companies' analysers. We have a range of Biomedical Scientists, Chemical Pathologists and Clinical Scientists on our SAGs.

The 'genSAG' meets twice a year and we concentrate on about a quarter of the Schemes at each meeting to cover everything over a two year period. Obviously any pressing or current issues are dealt with at the next available meeting

We are keen to recruit some more members for our genSAG.

The meetings run from 10:30 to 15:30 with Lunch provided and Travel Expenses are met. You would contribute at the meetings, but you might also be invited to do a bit of work in the background!

If you are interested in the role of EQA and its impact on your day job and would be like to be part of our SAG, then please let us know.

Finlay MacKenzie,
Secretary UK NEQAS Special Advisory Group for General Chemistry [genSAG].
