Dear Helmut,

They are both at zero as background. I made the images brighter (SPM FIGURE->COLOURS->EFFECT) in order to make sure that the truncation is actually missing tissues and not a mere case of not seeing them properly, and also to make sure from the MRIs that it is actually gm voxels that are missing. Am guessing the step change in contrast is the same for all images loaded using 'Check Ref'

Having said that, I share your confusion as to why the VBM8 images are less in intensity than the ones obtained from VBM5?

Thanks and regards,
Shail

Dear Shail,

just a short question about the lower left picture first, what value is the "background" (in the upper image, where GM probability is ~0, it'ss black, in the lower it's grey)?

When loading several volumes into SPM with "Check Reg" the intensity is scaled differently for each of the volumes, yes, but for GM files the range should be more or less the same?

Best,

Helmut
