FILLING THE SILENCE: EXPLORING INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE IN BISEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS

My name is Sarah Head and I am a third year trainee studying for a PsychD in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology at Surrey University.

I am conducting a study in which I hope to find out more about intimate partner violence (IPV) in bisexual relationships. In this instance, IPV refers to a range of abusive experiences someone may experience from the person they are having an intimate relationship with, such as being sexually, emotionally or physically abused or finding that their partner controls other aspects of their lives such as their finances or who they can socialise with.

To facilitate the exploration of this phenomenon, participants will be invited to take part in a telephone interview to discuss questions that cover a range of topics identified from earlier research findings. All interviews will be digitally recorded.

The researcher respects the sensitivity of this subject and it is hoped that you will experience the interview as a non-judgemental exploration of your views on the topic. All data gathered during this study will be held securely and anonymously. If you wish to withdraw from the study you may do so at any point but if you choose to withdraw once analysis has been completed, your data may still appear in the final research write up.
