The HPA an independent body that protects the health and well-being of the population. The Agency plays a critical role in protecting people from infectious diseases and in preventing harm when hazards involving chemicals, poisons or radiation occur. We also prepare for new and emerging threats, such as a bio-terrorist attack or a virulent new strain of disease.



The Primary Care Unit is part of the Regional Microbiology Network and undertakes community-based research in the areas of antibiotic resistance and the management of infectious disease. An experienced administrator is required to support e-Bug, a pan-European educational resource for junior and senior schools covering microbes, antibiotic resistance and spread of infection. The project assistant will be required to liaise with EU partner countries, assist with the organisation of e-Bug activities at science shows across the country and undertake all other administrative duties as required to support e-Bug and the website.

This post holder will apply practical experience in research methods to public health.  Working with researchers from a range of disciplines and contributing to peer-reviewed publications.  This post holder will contribute to ongoing research and grant applications using a range of methods including literature searches, qualitative methods and analysis.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with excellent Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills.
