Talented and engaging science communicators wanted to demonstrate century-old experiments by Sirs Henry Dale, Almroth Wright and Dame Harriette Chick to exhibition visitors. Strictly Science: keeping one step ahead will take place in the foyer of Imperial College London from 4th-14th April 2013 to commemorate 100 years of the Medical Research Council. The interactive exhibition will showcase past and present medical research and invite visitors to speculate on the future.

Experienced communicators with a background in biological sciences are required to people a lab from 1913. The successful candidates will lead demonstrations re-enacting groundbreaking experiments on vitamin-deficiency disease, war-wound treatment and the central nervous system. Applicants must be able to attend an introductory lecture and workshop on Thursday 28th February 2013 from 16.00-18.00 at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre at Hammersmith Hospital. An in-depth training session to equip communicators with the skills to carry out demonstrations will be held for successful candidates in mid-March in London (date/location tba). Experience of handling museum artefacts/apparatus is desirable. 

 

Interviews will be scheduled on Monday 25th February 2013.
