Robbins may be full of himself - in line with the rest of the me me me Twitter generation - but he is one of the few bloggers and twitterers with anything to say, even if he overwrites like there is no tomorrow. Even without a decent editor, I reckon he has a point. If you read the comments there and on the Nature discussion: Science stakes : Nature News & Comment http://www.nature.com/news/science-stakes-1.12261#/comments you will see many people defend the RI "because it is there and very old". Do grow up. That has been its cry for all the years that I have been around, most of which have seen it struggling from crisis to crisis.
