H iz,
This info is most helpful, can you kindly email me the reference of the EU/ISO standard?
Regards,
Debbie

Micromedial  used to always publish that no accuracy checks were required however they (now Care Fusion) now say periodic accuracy checks should be done using 3litre calibration syringe. This follows implementation of a 'new' EU/ISO standard which requires this (if you need the reference let me know and I can look it out and send it to you/post it).
The type turbine of transducer used in Microlabs is inherently stable and pretty indestructible unlike the vitalograph spirometer which uses a fairly delicate solid state Fleisch flow head. While the vitalograph has no moving parts the metal configuration used in the flow head to measure is easily affected by temperature and possibly barometric pressure which can lead to large variations in readings. This is why it needs to  be checked and adjusted for accuracy at least daily but also throughout the day as the room warms up - most important if you have stored it overnight in your car during the winter. Also...Not sure if it is still the case as haven't used for quite a few years but vitalograph spirometer won't function if ambient temp is below 16 degrees C.
Hope this helps
Kind regards
Liz

Hi Karen,
Is the weekly calibration based upon a product requirement, as you will see Mike has a different view?

Hi  I calibrate my microlab weekly  and annual calibrate Regards Karen -----Original Message----- From: Mike King Sent: 2 Jan 2013 19:03:36 GMT To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] MicroLab Spirometer - calibration
Dear Debbie,

Microlab does NOT require daily calibration, as this device is not affected by the variation in room temperatures, such as with the Vitalograph.

My understanding is that the Microlab 'self calibrates' on start up, and just requires annual calibration/certification.
