Good morning

Aa an OHA also currently studying for my degree  I am sure the company I work for would be happy to support some hours toward alternative practice.  I am based in the Leicester area so if anyone require some time please get on touch with myself.

Kind regards
Karen

Hello Adebanke & list

Adebanke: Your email has been circulated – sorry that you haven’t had a response.
Can anyone assist Adebanke please – she is one of my students and I know she is VERY keen.

List subscribers: It is getting more and more difficult for students to get placements – in part due to the current financial position the country currently faces. This year has been particularly dificult. JISC subscribers are passionate about OH which is why we spend our free time responding to email Qs. Sadly, if we don’t support students we may find in a few years that occupational health dies out so it is in all our interest to see if we can help support those practitioners who are trying to make a career move into the specialty. So if anyone can assist Adebanke I know she would be very grateful.

Subject: Alternative Practice Placement

Hi,

I am a trained and licensed registered nurse with four years of experience in a theatre and stroke rehabilitation setting. I’m a part-time and self-funding student at London South Bank University and studying Work Management and Occupational Health Nursing. Part of my Module is to be on work placement in a occupational health setting as this is mandatory for us. I have also got a practice placement folder from the University as an evidence. As part of my training, i am expected to do 15days alternative practice in different areas. I would like to visit banks, airports, industries or any Health departments for a day or more if possible. I am still looking for a work placement but i have done 3 days so far out of 15days required by the NMC. I want to enhance my experience and exposure to Occupational Health and will really appreciate if anyone could be kind enough to assist.

The nature of my course and being a registered nurse, has prepared me for this placement because it requires initiative, self motivation and a wide range of skills. For Occupational Health, an understanding of the working environment and workers health is essential. I find this subject very stimulating and i'm aware of the responsibility and opportunities available to students on placement in the work place.

May I meet you in person to talk more about this and how I can fulfill your expectations if given the opportunity? I’m prepared to also travel to London even though i live in Essex. I'm available at your convenience any weekday except Thursdays which is my lecture day at the university. I will be very grateful for your uttermost response.

Many thanks.

ADEBANKE
