In a previous life (??!!) I worked as a midwife and I recall a particularly painful condition of pregnancy called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD). This is caused by the hormones over-softening the ligaments, in particular those at the front of the pubic bone, resulting in the symphysis pubis "shifting" and causing quite severe pain. The sufferers often also cited sciatica-like pain so it may be worth considering this as a possible cause of her pain? The use of a specific "maternity belt" was used back in the '80s but my understanding is that these are no longer recommended. As already mentioned, physiotherapy is helpful, as is using a good, supportive office chair with adjustable seat pan and tilt mechanism. Hope this helps. Very mild pains at present that seem to be worse after a day of sitting. I have advised management of the adjustments i advised in my original post. Just wondered if there was anything else that the collective may have utilized in the past. Thanks for the advice on the maternity physio - I will advise to discuss this with midwife at her next visit.
