Subject: Alternative Practice Placement

Dear All

I am a trained and licensed registered nurse with four years of experience in a theatre and stroke rehabilitation setting. I’m a part-time and self-funding student at London South Bank University and studying Work Management and Occupational Health Nursing. Part of my Module is to be on work placement in a occupational health setting as this is mandatory for us. I have also got a practice placement folder from the University as an evidence. As part of my training, i am expected to do 15days alternative practice in different areas. I would like to visit banks, airports, industries or any Health departments for a day or more if possible. I am still looking for a work placement but i have done 3 days so far out of 15days required by the NMC. I want to enhance my experience and exposure to Occupational Health and will really appreciate if anyone could be kind enough to assist.

The nature of my course and being a registered nurse, has prepared me for this placement because it requires initiative, self motivation and a wide range of skills. For Occupational Health, an understanding of the working environment and workers health is essential. I find this subject very stimulating and i'm aware of the responsibility and opportunities available to students on placement in the work place.

May I meet you in person to talk more about this and how I can fulfill your expectations if given the opportunity? I’m prepared to also travel to London even though i live in Essex. I'm available at your convenience any weekday except Thursdays which is my lecture day at the university. I will be very grateful for your uttermost response.

Many thanks.

ADEBANKE
