What is Digital Curation and What Does it Mean for Cultural Heritage Institutions? Günter Waibel, Director, Digitization Program Office & Joanne Flores, Senior Program Manager, Office of the Under Secretary for History, Art and Culture This talk will explore the emerging concept of digital curation, especially as it relates to the work of cultural heritage institutions as they adapt to the new demands we face in managing digital collections and in serving users online. It will focus on the set of tasks we face in the curation of digital objects across the information lifecycle, from creation, to discovery and access, to long-term preservation. The talk also examine how repositories are evolving in response to the growing scale and variety of digital content, including digitized images, born-digital works of art, research data, and collection documentation.
