Hi Sarah, Sounds like a great idea; I like your enthusiasm! I can't help with the legal or copyright issues but I see no reason why you can't have a union list of journal holdings. Bailey Solutions would be willing to host the journals union list in a hosted KnowAll LMS catalogue at no charge to contributing libraries or viewers. If a library wishes to submit their holdings we need: * ISSN * Journal title * Publisher * Format * Name of holding library * Holdings date range * Copy location In a spreadsheet - one copy per row Do you have a website that you could use as a pointer to the union list? All we would ask is that the OPAC would retain our "powered by KnowAll" link. Having a giant journals list across the entire UK. Now this does sound a little bit pie-in-the-sky but i think it might be a plan considering the prices we all pay for our journals. At some point we have all had to consolidate our holdings within our smaller organisations, maybe the time is coming for us to do this on a much wider scale? This way it would be easier to find out who holds a journal in paper format etc. This would involve employing someone to look after the massive database and the hosting etc, but if everyone paid a nominal fee maybe this could work? I'm sure there are going to be massive amounts of emails now about copyright etc, but i'm sure there is a legal way to organise this. Ok, i'm going to duck now to avoid all the reasons why this won't work! I'm having a bit of spring clean and i'm not sure how ruthless to be with my journals. I'm thinking along the lines of how long do people keep certain journals after they have finished taking new copies, and also do you have a cut of date say of 10 years for keeping old stock of current journals?
