Subject: Origini XXXIV 2012 and invitation for the new 2013 volume
Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to inform you that volume XXXIV-2012 of ORIGINI, dedicated to the proceedings of
the International Conference
“Fifty years of Excavations and Researches at Arslantepe-Malatya
(Turkey). A contribution to the Study of the Earliest Centralised Societies”,
is shortly coming out.
Starting with this volume, I have taken the responsibility of directing the journal as the editor in
chief. Origini has also changed its structure, which is now composed by a largely international
scientific board and a small committee of associate editors, who support me in the effort of
maintaining and developing the high quality of the journal as well as spreading it as wider as possible
all over the world.
We would like Origini is a forum for the current debate on the basic topics of
prehistoric archaeology and anthropology, really contributing to the development of scientific
achievements in these fields. In this perspective, a peer review system has been also introduced for
the selection of papers, which, I am sure, will significantly contribute to improve the journal.
I am pleased to inform you, in this respect, that Origini has been recently rated as level ‘A’ by the
Italian National Agency for the evaluation of the University system and Research (ANVUR).
In view of the preparation of
number XXXV-2013, I warmly invite you to propose and send articles
for publication. We ask for papers presenting new data, always in an interpretative framework of
historical reconstruction, and/or debating theoretical and methodological questions. The deadline for
sending the articles is March 1, 2013; it is unfortunately fairly close, since the peer review process
will take time, but we hope that, if you have works in progress, you will be able to accomplish with
this request.
The papers should not exceed 70.000 characters (spaces included) and 10 full pages of illustrations
(the number of text and illustration pages can be changed but within the above mentioned total limits:
one page of text is considered to be of 3000 characters, with spaces included).
Guidelines with more precise indications for the editing of the papers will be sent to the authors who
will make concrete paper proposals. The articles should be sent in a digital version, either on a CD or
by email, with an attached pdf version, to the following address: Redazione Rivista Origini, Sapienza
Università di Roma, Dipartimento di Scienze dell'Antichità – Museo delle Origini, P.le Aldo Moro 5,
00185 Roma;

Looking forward to receiving positive answers and hoping we can rely on your contribution for the
success of the journal. I thank you in advance and send my best wishes for a very happy 2013!
Sincerely yours,
Marcella Frangipane
