We currently don't record this and I have no plans to introduce it. It strikes me as one of those data types which is rarely used or asked for by people, so if it was required it might be more cost effective to generate it from GIS querying as a one off (we have the BGS data available) rather than add it for every record just in case. I wanted to canvass you on whether: (1) you record geology in records on a consistent basis; (2) whether the details of the geology come from the results of specific work (e.g. a DBA or a excavation report with actual descriptions, which may of course differ from the BGS) or whether you take if directly from BGS maps etc; and (3) Whether you record superficial deposits and bedrock or just one type Thanks Paul Paul Driscoll Community Archaeology Officer Strategic Planning Policy and Specialist Advice Team PO Box 2081 The Council Offices Castle Street Thornbury BS35 9BP Phone: 01454 862175 Mobile: 07824307895 _______________________________________________________________ South Gloucestershire Council - rated April 2009 under the Comprehensive Performance Assessment a maximum '4 star' council by the Audit Commission _______________________________________________________________ This email and any files transmitted with it from South Gloucestershire Council are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
