Just to be contrary perhaps…

I've received the (very politely worded) letter. It seems only logical to me that they have asked for the data in this way. If you look at it from their perspective, they're probably aware from EngLAID about the problems we have with resourcing for big data requests and probably thought it would be helpful if they sourced elsewhere rather than getting us to do another search etc. It’s not like we’ve discovered any new Hillforts in the last 6 months (or had any work done on them).

As long as they sign a licence agreement, I'm more than happy for them to get the data from EngLAID.

I shall be responding along those lines, with the usual caveats about our data, copyright etc.
