Interested in inter-disciplinary doctoral research leading to a PhD? Applications are open for the Horizon Doctoral Training Centre at the University of Nottingham. This is a four-year PhD programme, including taught components and an industrial internship, focussing on the broad area of pervasive and ubiquitous computing as part of the digital economy. Funding is available from Horizon for UK/Home/EU students to cover the four years of fees plus an enhanced stipend. Non-EU international students may wish to look at the parallel IDIC scheme run through the University's Chinese campus: http://www.idic.nottingham.edu.cn/ The Nottingham Geospatial Institute is an active partner in the DTC, and as part of each cohort (roughly 15 students a year) we aim to take a fraction with backgrounds in GIS / geospatial technology or possibly geography. We look for students with a strong who are keen to pursue inter-disciplinary research where GIS may only be a component.
