The tectonic evolution of the continental margins of SW Baltica and SE
Laurentia displays numerous large-scale similarities, from the Late
Palaeoproterozoic to the Mesoproterozoic. This evolution is generally
interpreted in terms of a long-lived active continental margin, the
remnants of which are now preserved in the Grenville and Sveconorwegian
Provinces of Canada and Norway/Sweden. Differences in timing and
tectonic style nevertheless show that tectonic events cannot be
correlated along the entire length of the orogen, and suggest a margin
characterised by processes related to oceanic subduction, continental
collision and strike-slip movement - varying in space and time - similar
to some present-days margins.

We invite contributions that, by drawing upon structural, metamorphic,
petrological and geochronological studies, can help refine our
understanding of this orogeny. In addition, with the aim to compare and
contrast different orogenic processes and tectonic evolutions, we invite
contributions from other Mesoproterozoic orogens.
