Understanding digital preservation
London, 12 February 2013
British Library Centre for Conservation, 96 Euston Road, London NW1 2DB

Digital preservation is about making digital content accessible for the long-term. To succeed at this, you need an understanding of both curatorial/archival principles and technical solutions. This training day is aimed at people working with library and archive collections who are new to the subject of digital preservation, whether they are librarians or archivists seeking more information on the ‘digital’ aspect or IT professionals keen to learn more about the ‘preservation’ component.

This Preservation Advisory Centre workshop will provide an introduction to digital preservation issues, an explanation of the strategies for addressing them, and guidance on the steps to take to understand the digital preservation needs of your own organisation. It is led by Maureen Pennock of the British Library and Sharon McMeekin of the Digital Preservation Coalition.

Cost: £100 + VAT including lunch and refreshments
