Applications are invited for PhD studentships in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster University (UK).

We currently have a number of PhD studentships available in Statistics. All studentships pay full UK/EU tuition fees plus a maintenance stipend of a minimum £13,590 per annum (tax free). We welcome applications from UK/EU and non-EU applicants with eligibility criteria applying to some studentships. The deadline for COMPLETED applications
(including letters of reference) is 4 February, 2013. (PhD applications received after 4 February will be considered for future PhD studentships.)

As one of the UK's most successful statistics groups, the department contains a broad range of interests including Applied Probability, Bayesian and Computational Statistics, Time Series and Extremes, Social Statistics, Medical and Pharmaceutical Statistics. We welcome applications in any of these areas.

The department provides a thriving research environment, with well over 30 PhD students within Statistics and Probability. It runs an extensive range of postgraduate level courses; it is also a founder member of the UK's Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS) and has the UK's only doctoral training centre, Stor-i specialising in
Statistics and Operational Research.
