1)      Before the list-owner jumps in, I’ll remind you this is not a discussion list.  I should have been clearer I was inviting Statisticians to add comments on the Nature blog.

2)      Vaux’s article is not based on problems of English and does not mention or imply meta-analysis. His central point is the need for independent replication to justify use of statistical methods.  My gripe is that his description of statistics is then simplistic – see his Glossary.  If going off on tangents, please change the subject line.
