THRIVE was limited to patients with very well controlled LDLc.  However, there is plenty of older evidence suggesting nicotinic acid is likely to be of benefit in the statin intolerant patient with elevated LDLc (albeit from the pre-statin era.....).

Best wishes

I never managed to get anyone to take Niaspan because the few I tried refused to tolerate the flushes. It is a shame that Tredaptive has gone because I have some statin-intolerant patients who were getting reasonable LDL reduction with it, but I shall not be trying to use nicotinic acid as the THRIVE trials data uggests it is a waste of time.

Dear Lipid Clinic Doctors

Are you still precribing nicotinic acid?  If so, how?
