Dear All,

I have little to add to this scholarly discussion, except that the National
Trust does not record a copy of the Samual Hearne title at Bateman's, and I
wonder if we should add Caspar Whitney to the possible reading sources.
Again, no copy at Bateman's, but I do know that his 1896 *"On Snow Shoes to
the Barren Grounds"* includes a reference (yours if you want to follow up)
to a meeting with a famous Soto Indian runner called Kipling!

Surely JRK would have been directed to this by friends...

Best regards, and season's greetings

John
