The first link in Albert's very interesting mail got slightly mangled - try this abbreviated version: http://bit.ly/UcUIw0

Is there any way to get across to this "coalition task force" the growing strength of the international movement urging governments to actively monitor health inequities and their root causes? Not just those related to ethnicity, but also concerning all the other "protected characteristics" - as well as that famously unprotected one, socioeconomic status or "class"?

This situation illustrates perfectly why those concerned with ethnicity and migration need to join forces with the "social determinants of health" movement and with groups concerned with gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, etc. Typically, to unite fragmented movements a common enemy has to arise. Perhaps this "task force" (and the shabby agenda behind it) will do the trick!

Clearly, 2013 is going to be anything but a dull year....

Season's greetings from

PS I'd like to take this opportunity to shamelessly advertise an article just published on "Ethnicity, Migration and the ‘Social Determinants of Health’ Agenda: it's at
