The position is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to enable the results on patent history from Professor Graeme Gooday’s previous AHRC research project ‘Owning and Disowning Invention,’ to be shared with a range of Archives and Museums in the UK. You will work closely with the Oxford Museum of the History of Science and other partner organisations (principally the IET Archives, BT Archives and the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum) to enhance their understanding and deployment of patented telecommunications in their collections, through exhibitions, online resources, staff training, educational activities and outreach work.

With a completed PhD thesis (preferably in a topic relating to history of telecommunications, patents, and/or First World War studies) and a BA and/or Masters in a topic relating to the history of science, technology, and/or medicine, you will have experience of working in a museum context and of communicating to non-academic audiences.

University Grade 6 (£24,520 - £29,249 p.a.)

It is likely that an appointment will be made no higher than £26,779 p.a. since there are funding limitations which dictate the level at which the appointment can be made.
