Brain-computer Interface: Brain-Computer Interfaces and Neurotechnologies. Special Session IWANN2013

13th International Work-Conference on Artificial Neural Networks
12–14 June, 2013 – Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain)

AIMS

=================================

The Brain-computer Interface (BCI) technology is based on the analysis of brain activity to provide a non muscular channel for the transmission of messages and commands. A BCI emerged few decades ago as a new communication procedure allowing subjects with severe neuromuscular disorders, who may be completely paralyzed or in the locked-in state, to communicate and to interact with the outer world. However, recently BCI applications have been also used in totally different areas (e. g. entertainment). In the future, it is expected a qualitative improvement in performance, in terms of information transfer rate and reliability with potential uses in emerging areas of interest, such as Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) or security.

The main goal of this special session is to show the last advances in neurotechnologies, BCIs and their respective applications, as well as innovative biosignal processing algorithms, training techniques or paradigms that make them possible.

Furthermore, we propose a special demo session, where participants of the IWANN will be welcome to experiment with this technology by themselves.

PAPERS SUBMISSIONS
=================================

The proceedings will include all the presented communications to the conference. As in previous editions of IWANN, we are arranging the publication of the proceedings with Springer-Verlag on Lecture Notes on Computer Science (LNCS) series, and the books will be available on-site. It is also foreseen the publication of an extended version of selected papers in a special issue on several specialized journals (such as Neurocomputing, Soft Computing and Neural Proccesing Letters).

The procedure for the submission of papers is the same as for the rest of the contributions of the conference and it will be made through the IWANN2013 web section. The authors are asked to indicate the Special Session title to which their paper is submitted. Authors must prepare original manuscripts which should not exceed 8 pages in the LNCS Springer-Verlag format. Please proceed to Authors information section for detailed Information http://www.iwann-conference.es/
