Hospitality & Society, issue 2.2
Issue 2.2 of Hospitality & Society raises questions about hospitality and work that cross a range of fields and perspectives. Firstly, Agnieszka Rydzik, Annette Pritchard, Nigel Morgan and Diane Sedgley report on the findings of an arts-based project that studied responses of Central and Eastern European female migrants working in the hospitality sector in the UK. Bente Heimtun, Berit Brandth and Marit S. Haugen use oral history methodologies to examine how the experiences of seasonal workers in Norway are shaped by their living environments and how boundaries between home and work are negotiated, whilst Ziene Mottiar and Deirdre Quinn offer gendered perspectives on the division of household activities on self-catering holidays. Finally, Cheryl Cockburn-Wootten argues that a broader understanding of professionalism that incorporates concepts of meaningful work and dignity opens possibilities for change in the hospitality industry.
