I will let you know. Have mentioned it briefly to a couple of tutors.....response has been.......we only teach!!!

(Obviously this must not include assessing/recording a learners ability???)

Hi Ho, lets see - I will keep you posted! This will have to be driven from the top, but at least I don't have to run round like an idiot to chase up evidence...

Wow - a lot of work has gone into setting that up. Think we may have to adopt something similar here.

Good luck with it,

Hi Samantha

Our learner support have put together some documentation to support this. Ultimately it means that everything will/SHOULD be in place by the time it gets to us to schedule the exams. I have attached these, have a read...

We are going 'live' with this arrangement in January.....lets see.....I can hear the tutors now..................:-/

Good Luck x

Thanks Shirley

I have spoken to my line manager about it now, she wants me to put a paper together detailing what the problems are and what we need in order to be compliant with the regulations. The next part will be getting Learning Support to yield to our will. Wish me luck!

Hi

I don't think this can be allowed, does it not state that it must be their normal way of working? I think I would pass this up higher with your recommendations.

Regards

Shirley

Hi Samantha

I agree with you. However if the Learning Support team sign the document (lying comes to mind), you can apply for the arrangements. You might want to warn the Learning Support Department that when the JCQ inspector discover their ploy, they could take away your school's status as an exam centre.

Kind regards

Hi all

Sorry to bring this up yet again.

We have recently discovered that our Learning Support team have been requesting various access arrangements for students that do not necessarily need these arrangements in the classroom, but, according to them, need the arrangement in the exam as they panic and get stressed and it is only then that they need the arrangement. These arrangements are backed up by the appropriate evidence, and our learning support team signing one of our forms agreeing that it is the usual way of working.

Have any of you come across this? To my mind if the student is not using it in the classroom, even though recommended, they should not have it during the exam. Surely a bit of stress with exams is normal, and not necessarily a good enough reason to expect an access arrangement, is it?

Thanks,

Samantha Vowles
