Controversial plans to allow police to monitor all internet use will come under heavy fire from a committee of MPs and peers this week.

A separate “privacy impact assessment” gave the plans a clean bill of health because they would be “fully compliant with the Data Protection Principles and the Data Protection Act”.

However, the committee will brand these claims “fanciful” and “misleading”.
