Geography at the University of Dundee welcomes applications for PhD studentships for 2013/14
As part of the Human Geography Pathway of the Scottish DTC we are able to offer access to the following awards:
'Quota' studentships - the Pathway has FIVE studentships to award (Deadline: 8th March; Interviews on 27th March, all those shortlisted must attend the interview)
'Open' studentships - upto TEN studentships available in the DTC. Any applicant who is unsuccessful in the 'Quota' studentships competition, but who passes a quality threshold, will be entered into the Open competition
'Collaborative' studentships - upto NINE studentships available in the DTC. Projects to be developed with a partner in the private, public or third sector (Deadline: 11th February)
*We also have access to interdisciplinary pathways in the DTC: Advanced Quantitative Methods; Families, Relationships and Demographic Change; Health.
In particular we welcome applications in the following research areas:
Prof. Nicholas Fyfe - policing, crime, volunteering
Dr. Alistair Geddes - forced labour; social impact of flooding; GIS; advanced quantitative methods
Dr. Ed Hall - disability, learning disability, social care, health, genetics and healthcare
Dr. Susan Mains - mobility, migration and representation; heritage, resilience, mobility and risk
Dr. Jonathan Mendel - online networks, networked conflict and terrorism
Dr. Fiona Smith - Community, resilience and inclusion; gender and youth geographies
Dr. Lorraine van Blerk - geographies of children and youth, 'street' children, participatory methodologies, HIV/AIDS
