Academic Leadership Chair in Child Health and Lifecourse Epidemiology

The Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Leeds wishes to appoint an Academic Leadership Chair in Child Health and Lifecourse Epidemiology. The new Chair would enhance existing strengths in child health and lifecourse research by recruitment of an epidemiologist or biostatistician with strong methodological skills focussed in the developmental origins of diseases, with emphasis potentially given to obesity and diabetes. The Chair would then integrate with the cardiovascular and diabetes focus in LIGHT and connect with both the clinical and basic sciences, thereby promoting applied health research into lifestyle causes of non-communicable diseases, enhancing the Institute's link into funding opportunities within the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

The successful post holder will report to the Head of Division / Institute Director, through whom they will be responsible to the Dean of the Faculty (via Head of School).

The person appointed will:

• Provide leadership and deliver top quality research outputs that contribute to impact and innovation in cardiovascular epidemiology;
• Expect to take on a significant leadership role in the organisation in research and/or education
• Deliver research-led education that contributes to an exceptional student experience
