*Mission and Method*

Compcros : Comparative Cognitive Processes and
Systems<http://danteadinkra.wix.com/compcros>
, is a public general and academic library, research and retreat centre
based in Histon, Cambridge, whose focus is the exploration of the essence,
structure and dynamism of the cosmos.

This study is carried out through inquiry into the self and nature within
the context of a comparative exploration of existing disciplines
and world-views and the creation of new ones.

These efforts employ all the cognitive capacities available to the human
being, from faith to imagination and reason.

These enquiries are further pursued and publicly disseminated through
research and production in various media and through the inspiring matrix
of the relationship between the interior of the Centre and its environment. The
internal space of the Centre is shaped by works of art depicting various
worldviews, cosmographic constructs resonating with the cosmographic
possibilities of the Centre’s surrounding exterior, interior and exterior
spaces conducive to aesthetic appreciation, relaxation, contemplation,
prayer and ritual.

*Uniqueness*

What does Compcros offer that is unique, particularly in its Histon,
Cambridge location, a heart of global educational culture, one of the most
comprehensive clusters of scholarly facilities in the world?

Compcros demonstrates a vision and a method and means to actualise
this vision.

These qualities are unique to its location and distinctive in the
curent global world of learning.

This vision is the active cultivation of a relationship
between interior and exterior space as complementary cosmographic forms.

The vision of the Centre evokes relationships
between architectural interiority, psychological interiority and the
exteriority represented by nature, as unified within a cosmographic whole.

This vision is explored through the relationship between the works of art
that shape the Centre library, the scope and character of its library
holdings and the presence of natural and explicitly sacred space around
the Centre that is readily evocative of cosmographic values.

Within this context, the library is distinctive in its balance between the
most current and ambitious academic literature in various disciplines and
a broad range of excellent general interest literature.

Apart from being the only dual purpose academic and general library in
this region, an uncommon approach to the culture of
the library exemplified, par excellence, by the magnificent New York
Public Library, it is the only library outside a university setting in
this region that offers access to academic databases.

It also possesses works of strategic value to particular disciples that
might be unique in England.

In addition, all services are free.

The Centre is currently self funded and donations are welcome.

The Centre is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The library is a non-lending library but the 24 hour, 7 days a week opening
hours in the quiet and safety of Histon means one
can use the library resources for any length of time at a stretch.

The library will soon be catalogued and the catalogue made public.

The Centre's brochure provides an extensive description of its mission and
method.

This brochure is a very rich presentation of cosmographic vision in terms
both delightful and erudite, sublime in scope and detailed in reference,
rooted in the cognitive geography of a particular place yet
spanning different cultures, speaking through a balance between the
ideational power of verbal expression and the evocative force of images.

55 pages. 7,036 words. 55 images.
