Is there anything contraindicated in applying DCM to a non-ideally factorial design? I realize most papers suggest 2x2, etc designs as preferable for DCM.

Specifically, I'm utilizing a data set with block design of rest vs. pain and am interested in model selection and comparison between the same group of subjects at two time points—before and after experimental pain induction. Subjects will be rating pain during the pain stimulus.
