GEM colleagues may be interested in the attached document which was compiled
by GEM members in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, to offer a
flavour of each national curriculum, including what may happen in the next
five years and some implications for museums. The document was provided as
a handout at the MA conference in Edinburgh earlier this month during an
extremely well-attended session catchily titled 'Never mind the curriculum -
where's the beef?', presented by Nick Winterbotham, Sarah Cowie, Sandra
Stancliffe and myself. A write-up of the session can be found on the MA
website at
http://www.museumsassociation.org/museums-journal/news/08112012-never-mind-t
he-curriculum. The MA conference was attended by some 1300 delegates and
exhibitors and competition to get onto the programme had been fierce, so we
were delighted to be able to contribute and act as 'the voice for heritage
learning'.
